Life Transitions
Life consists of a series of transitions. As with any change, something new replaces something older. Transitions require introspection and examination of who you are and who you want to be. At times, transitions can stall, creating turbulence and trauma that require change and adaption. Transitions can be difficult to endure, inducing emotions of fear, uncertainty and doubt.
The Empty Nest Syndrome is a transitional period most often pertaining to mothers. Some mothers feel a sense of withdrawal having to shift from being a nurturing mother to an adult role with her child. It often feels like quickly braking a car traveling at 200 miles an hour — 18 years in one role to change to another identity immediately. The Empty Nest Syndrome can result in depression and marital withdrawal. |
